IMPACT FAQ

“When I try to log into IMPACT, it shuts down my Internet Explorer”

You will need to turn off your Internet Pop up Blocker. This is done by going into “Tools” on your MS Internet Explorer menu.

“How do I add a Trusted Site to the Windows XP's Pop-up Blocker?”

The default settings for the pop-up blocker allow you to see pop-ups that are opened when you click a link or button on a Web site. There might be some Web sites that you visit on a regular basis, and you want to see the pop-ups displayed by those sites. Just follow the steps below:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
  3. In the Address of Web site to allow box, type the address (or URL) of the Web site you want to see pop-ups from, e.g. *.firstindex.com, and then click Add.

Google & Yahoo Tool Bars

The Google/Yahoo Toolbar is a browser add-on. If you have it, click on the Blocking Popups button and it will change to Site Popups Allowed.

“How do I disable the Pop-up Window Blocking feature of Norton AntiSpam?”

Follow the instructions for your version of Norton.

Norton AntiSpam and Norton Internet Security 2005 and 2006

  1. In the main window, on the left side click Norton AntiSpam.
  2. Click Pop-up Blocking > Turn Off.

The status (on or off) of Pop-up and Ad Blocking is displayed on the Norton AntiSpam interface.

Norton AntiSpam and Norton Internet Security 2004 and earlier

  1. In the main window, double-click Ad Blocking.
  2. Uncheck Pop-up Window Blocking.
  3. Click OK.

Once you have configured Pop-up Blocking, information may still be blocked on the Web site. This may be because the Web site information is being stored in your Web browser's cache. You must clear the cache for the changes to work.

To clear the cache in Internet Explorer

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools > Internet Options.
  3. Click Delete Cookies.
  4. When you see the prompt "Delete all cookies in the Temporary Internet File folder?" click OK.
  5. Click Clear History.
  6. When you see the prompt "Are you sure you want Windows to delete your history of visited Web sites?" click Yes.
  7. Click OK.

Alternatively, you can hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys simultaneously and click the Refresh button for your browser. This loads the Web page without using the Web browser's cache.

If you are using a 2004 product, you can configure Pop-up Blocking from the Web Assistant icon in the Web browser's taskbar. Just click the globe icon next to the words "Web assistant" and uncheck "Block ads on this site" or "Block pop-ups on this site". This automatically refreshes the Web site.

“Cannot access or log on to secure Web sites with Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall ”

You cannot access or you cannot log on to the secure Web pages while Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall is enabled. This problem usually happens if access to secure (https) sites is turned off, if Privacy Control is configured to block logon information, or if a required service fails to start with Windows.

To fix this problem, start with the first section, "To verify that you can connect to a secure site," and follow the instructions from there.

To verify that you can connect to a secure site

  1. Start Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
  2. Double-click Privacy Control.
  3. Click Custom Level.
  4. Make sure that Enable Secure Connection is checked.
  5. Click OK, and then click OK again.
  6. Close your browser.
  7. Exit Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
  8. Open your browser, and try to connect.

If you still cannot access or log on to a secure Web site, then go on to the next section, "To check your confidential information protection."
